Our facility is outfitted with a 750.0 kWh solar panel array. The array consists of 12 rows of 144 panels for a total of that 1,728 panels are located in an open field behind our laboratory. The solar panels generate up to 6,570,000.0 KWH annually. To see real-time data on how much coal-powered energy our solar panels are displacing, please visit our: solar generation page.

The solar project was made possible in part by more than 30,000 Utah residential and business customers participating in Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky renewable energy program – a voluntary green power program that provides a simple and convenient way to support the development of new renewable energy resources in the West, including projects like this one.

The Blue Sky Block Program was started in 2000 as a way to provide customers an option to help build demand for renewable energy and to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Since 2006, Rocky Mountain Power has teamed up with their Blue Sky customers to support community-based, non-residential projects that provide strong environmental, economic and educational benefits to their customers and communities. Over 50 community-based projects have received support through the Blue Sky program in the state of Utah.
More than 76,000 customers currently participate in the Blue Sky Program. For as little as $1.95 a month, community members like you can support regional wind energy and local renewable energy projects.
