Position: Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (Levels I-IV)
Starting Pay: From $24.40 per hour

Education & Experience:
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Minimum Experience as follows:
       a. Five (5) years experience in treatment plant operations (Grade IV Operator)
       b. Four (4) years experience in treatment plant operations (Grade III Operator)
       c. Two (2) years experience in treatment plant operations (Grade II Operator)
       d. Entry level 2 years work experience
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preference may be given to a candidate who currently has a Utah Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification Grade IV.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of technical treatment plant equipment and machinery and its operation maintenance and repair; thorough knowledge of plant processes; thorough knowledge of hazards and precautions associated with plant operations and processes; thorough knowledge of plant policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of ordinances, laws, and regulations governing wastewater treatment and discharge promulgated by various State and Federal agencies; some knowledge of principles of supervision; working knowledge of laboratory procedures and the chemical and physical process involved in wastewater treatment. Ability to make process control decisions using laboratory data, facility reports, trends and plant process model.

Major Duties:
• Use a variety of hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and shovels
• Repair and maintain sewer lines and manholes / or Monitor, maintain facility processes and equipment through sampling, observation, and instrumentation
• Respond to and participate in on-call emergency calls
• Operate vehicles in the performance of duties or to attend training programs
• Other duties as assigned

Special Qualifications:
• Must be able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Must possess a valid Utah State driver’s license and a Class B CDL or obtain within 12 months.
• Must be willing to work on-call, (24-hour), and be able to respond to plant site within 30 minutes of an emergency call out.
• Must be willing to work rotating swing-shift
• Must be a member of the Emergency Response Team.
